Why God Has Not Forgiven the Devil

A friend of mine once asked me: “If God a such a forgiving and merciful Being, why hasn't He forgiven the Devil?”

I am sure that it is not only him that has asked such questions. A lot of other people have also asked similar questions. But here's the thing, it can't happen. Why? This is because there is no redemption for fallen angels.
Angels are naturally more wise, intelligent and by far more intellectual than humans. By virtue of these characteristics, they have full cognizance of their actions — their effects both positive and negative. And of course they are imbued with the power of choice. So, when an angel chooses to be evil, there is no turning back. Not that God has somehow stopped being merciful or is being partial but that is the nature of angels.

It is like this, an adult human being who with the exception of medical complications decides to urinate on himself is clearly aware that is isn't proper, and it would smell and inconvenience him and others around. But a child who does the same is seen otherwise. Why? Simply because the child is most likely not aware of the full consequences of such actions. Such is how it is with angels.

Finally, who has heard that the Devil has actually asked for forgiveness? How can God begin to forgive him even if He wanted to without an effort at being penitent?
